Apprenticeship as a Commercial Vehicle Mechatronics Technician

A modern lorry is a rolling network of control units. As a commercial vehicle mechatronics technician, you learn both sides: the mechanics of the engine, brakes, chassis and body — and the electronics you use to read out and pin down faults. That combination is exactly what the job title stands for.

The GV Trucknet group runs its own workshop. For you that means working on the vehicles that are out on the road every day and seeing directly what your work achieves — when a vehicle runs again, the route rolls.

Apprenticeship duration: Three and a half years.

What you will learn

  • Servicing and repairing commercial vehicles, semi-trailers and trailers
  • Fault-finding on electrical, electronic and mechanical systems
  • Reading diagnostic equipment and interpreting measured values correctly
  • Checking and repairing brake, chassis and drive systems
  • Preparing vehicles for legally required inspections
  • Workplace safety and the proper use of workshop equipment

What you should bring

  • A school-leaving certificate, technical understanding and interest in electronics
  • Care and attention, plus the patience to narrow down a fault systematically
  • Manual dexterity
  • Teamwork — nobody works alone in the workshop
