Apprenticeships at GV Trucknet — six trades, one network

About to leave school and not sure where to go? Logistics is a good place to start. You see straight away what your work is for: what you load in the morning is with the customer the next day. And you don't have to choose between technical and office work — we have both under one roof.

In the GV Trucknet you can train in six trades: in the warehouse, behind the wheel, in the workshop, in IT and in the commercial area. Training takes place at several sites in Germany. On this page you will find all six trades with their content and duration, plus an overview of which trade is available where.

These six trades are open to you

Warehouse Clerk / Warehouse Logistics Specialist

If you want to do something after school where you can see at the end of the day what you've achieved, the warehouse is a good place to be. As a warehouse clerk or warehouse logistics specialist, you receive goods, check them, store them correctly, put together orders and get shipments ready for dispatch. In the GV Trucknet group this happens for very different customers — from the automotive industry to textile handling.

Duration: Warehouse clerk: two years. Warehouse logistics specialist: three years. The two-year qualification can be credited towards the three-year one.

HGV Driver

The apprenticeship as an HGV driver is the direct route to the wheel of a lorry — and it is a good deal more than driving. You gain the relevant driving licence categories through the company, learn load securing, how to assess the technical condition of your vehicle, how to apply driving and rest times correctly and how to handle the paperwork that goes with every run.

Duration: Three years.

Commercial Vehicle Mechatronics Technician

A modern lorry is a rolling network of control units. As a commercial vehicle mechatronics technician, you learn both sides: the mechanics of the engine, brakes, chassis and body — and the electronics you use to read out and pin down faults. That combination is exactly what the job title stands for.

Duration: Three and a half years.

IT Specialist for System Integration

Without IT, logistics grinds to a halt: dispatch, telematics, warehouse management and billing all depend on systems that have to keep running. As an IT specialist for system integration, you make sure they do — you plan and operate networks and servers, set up workstations, connect applications and help colleagues when something goes wrong.

Duration: Three years.

Forwarding Agent (Forwarding and Logistics Services)

Training as a forwarding agent means learning to organise under time pressure. You take in orders, plan routes, talk to drivers, customers and partners, track shipments and handle billing at the end. All the threads come together in dispatch — and that's exactly where you sit during this apprenticeship.

Duration: Three years.

Office Management Assistant

Office management is the broadest commercial apprenticeship in the network: you learn order processing, accounting, personnel administration, procurement and organisation, and along the way choose two elective qualifications that set your specialism. That keeps a lot of doors open for you.

Duration: Three years.
